Our story

How we began

HIILAMS began by serving bespoke ateliers: finding cloth that worked and recording its specifications properly. As the number of partner workshops grew, we started taking part in fibre selection, setting yarn counts and defining finishing standards — and in time built our own range.

Today HIILAMS serves ateliers, ready-to-wear labels and private clients alike, from the cloth through to the finished garment.

Craft

How the cloth is made

From raw fibre to finished roll, we hold three control points: twist and evenness in spinning, density and tension in weaving, shrinkage and hand in finishing.

Before a batch leaves us we record yarn count, weight, width, shrinkage and dye-lot. An atelier receives not just a roll of cloth but a sheet it can check against — wastage predicted before the first cut, and fewer remakes.

Responsibility

Our commitments

Most waste in this trade happens in stock and in remakes. Our answer is unglamorous: get the specifications right so ateliers cut correctly, and keep stock shallow — weave to demand rather than to a warehouse.

On the raw-material side we give preference to wool suppliers with traceable origin, and we are steadily raising the share of recycled fibre in our blends.
